Day in the Life Project libday8 day 2
Arrived late at work this morning, somehow could not leave my bed. Missed the All Libraries Meeting of the Bodleian Libraries but I know there will be another meeting soon.
So far: made a photocopy for a German Tutor for the recording of the examination (official exams at Oxford for listening comprehension), did a tour of the library at 10 am partly in Russian (very happy with that) for an EFL student. Been asked for "the red book" by another German Tutor. Found out what it was after further questioning, obviously. Now will try to sort out the photocopier, and then find this document, in Russian, about Soviet and Post-Soviet Law. Found document. Above my level. will ask a friend to translate the interesting bits in my spare time. Could not sort photocopier and called the Technician who sorted it out. Jeannine, our new ERASMUS student comes to see me, the others have no work to give to her, so I brief here on our DELICIOUS pages, and ask her to add more EFL and German language learning links. A query not yet answered about Swahili, and a query about Khmer, that we have classified here under Cambodian. And a query about Basque. Noon: just received quote for library material. Good price, but let's wait for the other company to send us a quote too. No more queries at the moment, will enquire about installing proper security system in the library. Hopefully I will try to get quotes from 3 companies. First step: see if those will be compatible with the Oxford system.
Interesting news about a Russian ruling on VKontakte and its music streaming.
2.30 pm Just done a tour for two students, one interested in learning Arabic, the other in learning Spanish but from a French point of view. Unfortunately I do not have such material. Told the student also to consider doing the Language Exchange programme
oops completely forgetting about the German girl, must she how she's doing.
3 pm She was doing fine. More students, more languages queries. Then time to search for companies for a self-issue machine and security system. Contacted two so far.
4 pm Time to read more on that copyright consultation. Won't be speaking about orphan's work, hardly happens here, or happened once if I recall it well. Bad headache, I won't be going to the law library tonight, printed the doc, perhaps will work on it later at home.
