Day in the Life Project libday8 day 3
I went to the law library yesterday, which was great as it is difficult in this library to get more than 30 minutes of being on my own. Spent there 2 good hours. Now I need to write down all the ideas/experience from the job I have and share those with the Copyright Librarian.
9.05 we changed the position of the library tables so that there is more study space for each student. This is also a test to see whether the students still like the modified library space... before we invest in buying another table!
9.30 query about finding a Russian translator/tutor
9.40 query from German Tutor, we cannot find the textbooks on the shelves, and it is true, they have all disappeared. Most of the time they come back at the end of term!
10.12 just received a revalidation portfolio! Great! That will help me a lot for my own CILIP revalidation :-)
10.20 reading more on the consultation. Struggling with a clear definition of "fair use".
11 coffee with other colleagues.
11.15 more reading on the consultation. Lost for the text and data mining exceptions. One company contacted for the self-issue machine & security system came back to us. They will visit tomorrow :-) good. Must think about writing down questions in advance, such as compability with our security tattle-tape.
12. Library tour for an Italian class. Unfortunately I do not speak Italian, though I find it one of the most beautiful languages in the world.
2. no one for the tour. I go back to my copyright consultation reading.
2.30 make a few changes on the language centre webpages (no need to link to "how to type in Cambodian" webpage as this language is now included in the PC list of languages in which you can type, I also added a link for Russian). About to go to the "All Libraries Meeting" but I'm waiting for this student to finish his photocopies.
4.17 pm back from meeting. Lots of interesting news from the Bodleian Libraries, one of them I cannot say... hm... you will see.
4.24 pm remember to contact the student regarding the missing CD for Italian. We had a good look on the shelves but turned out one of the Tutors took the CD.
4.29 pm more search on a furniture shop that could also make furnitures.
4.48 pm another company gets back in touch for the self-issue/security system. Good. Must find a third company though, good to compare prices and compatibilities!
4.52 pm contacted a third company. Not quite convinced by them. Must contact a fourth company.
