Glasgow University Library
Glasgow University Library is huge! I would not think there was an equivalent to it at Oxford University, or perhaps it could be all faculty and departmental libraries put together in one building!
Perhaps it is mostly similar to Brookes University Library in its Gipsy Lane campus.
The signage is excellent, but I suppose really needed and different working spaces are greatly designed.
There's for example the group space with movable powerpoints and white boards.
In the floors above, noise levels are well indicated, going from complete silence to quite whispering to speaking and eating and drinking in the cafe installed within the library.
In the higher floor, special exhibitions are being held. The library is very proud for example of having sent some of its printed materials to the Russian exhibition currently showing in the British Library.
There is also a reading room for older materials with book stands so that the spines are not being damaged while reading the books.
I wished I had taken more pictures but it was difficult to not take pictures of students in the process so... sorry!
